Facebook in myGateway. You can add the new Facebook channel to your portal pages so that you can keep up with what's going on in your favorite social network while you're logged into myGateway.
For instructors:
Control when your course announcements expire. You don't need to accept the default expiration period of seven days any longer. Now you can type in how many days you want your announcement to remain active. Announcements will be visible for that length of time in the students' Personal Announcements channel until/unless they delete the announcement from there after reading it. The announcement will remain on the course homepage until you delete it or it expires.
Point your course to some other homepage. If you don't use the myGateway course homepage tools, but teach your course using another online system, you can send students directly there when they click on the course in myGateway. Here's how: click the My Courses link in the Course Leader Activity Channel. Locate your course on the page, and click the edit icon to the left. This brings up the Set Course Homepage screen -- change the selection to Other, and enter the URL of the page you want to use. Click Save Changes, then OK. That's it!
The upgrade also provides bug fixes and performance improvements (not exciting but worth mentioning!).
Additionally, the upgrade gives us new channels for sending personal announcements via text message to cell phones. We currently have a locally developed method for sending you text message alerts, so while we evaluate these new tools, we encourage you to sign up now: log into myGateway, and in the Personal Information channel (Student tab or Employee tab) click on "Set Text Message Alert Preferences."
