Adding and Removing Channels in MyGateway

Adding and Removing Channels

*These instructions work for other tabs, we'll use the student tab as an example.

When you sign in to myGateway, you will see your Student tab, (if you're a student). On the tab you will see various "framed boxes" that are called "Channels".

A channel is a box with specific information. You can customize what channels you have, where they are placed, etc.

  • Some channels are FIXED, meaning you cannot remove them, such as the PERSONAL ANNOUNCEMENTS channel. Notice how the "X" is greyed out?
  • Other channels can be removed or added as you wish.

ADDING and REMOVING CHANNELS

You can easily add and/or remove a channel by doing the following:

To REMOVE a channel it's as simple as clicking the [X] in the upper right-hand corner of the box.

To ADD a channel, follow these steps:

Click on the CONTENT LAYOUT (right under the myGateway logo on the left side of the screen). This takes you to the "Manage Content/Layout" section of myGateway.

Notice the information at the top of the screen. It tells you your options for modifying tabs, channels, and columns.
If you don't like the changes you made, you can always use the link "revert to the default layout" to restore everything back to it's original state.

The dark highlighted TAB is the tab you are modifying. If you want to modify another tab, simply click on the name of the tab you want to change.
To add a channel, just click on the [NEW CHANNEL] button where you want the new channel to appear in the layout.

Once clicked a box opens asking what channel category you'd like to view channels from. If you are not sure, SELECT ALL then click the GO button.

A box of available channels appears. The items in the box are listed alphabetically. Select the channel you want. For example, the Weather channel.
Click on ADD CHANNEL.

After, you are taken back to Manage Content/Layout. To see the channel you just added, click on "<< BACK TO STUDENT TAB".

Wasn't that easy?

A special thanks to Erin Ridley for putting this information together.
